I was looking at auctions on Ebay and found a group of new listings that, from the pictures, I recognized as being taken from the hip boot collection of Jerry Palmer in Indiana.
I did a little searching on the web and learned that he passed away in December of 2017. I visited his home some years ago and he had literally hundreds of pairs of rubber fire hip boots. These have become scarce as most departments have switched away from this style. I am guessing that his family has started to list these on Ebay. I often wondered what the disposition of this enormous collection would be.
He also collected motocross boots and also had hundreds of them.
If they sell his entire collection this will be the largest release of rubber hip boots to the market in many years, and in wearable sizes (not the small sizes you often find on Ebay).
