: : : Just a pic or two of me in my CHP...

: : Great to see you on the board, Gearfreak! It's been too long since I've seen your photos. I've long found you once of the most handsome and realistic faux-Chippies on the Net. (You are faux, aren't you? I've always assumed you're not a real cop.)

: : Where did you take these photos, especially the two in front of the ivy-covered brick building? How did you get away with taking pictures in a full, authentic CHP uniform in broad daylight?

: Thanks for the kind message. I am not a real cop as you guessed. I do my best to pull it off so I appreciate your compliment.
: I took those pics at a local abandoned factory turned recreational area. I do my best to time things when I don't think anyone will be around. That time though a guy drove down the road and parked near the sign I was looking at. I am not in California, and none of the local police departments here have a uniform that looks anything like CHP. Nevertheless, this guy asked me if it was ok for him to park there, and go about his business. He took me for a real cop and was asking my permission.... ha.

Very cool.

A few Halloweens ago a buddy and I dressed as CHP officers. We were at a bar/restaurant eating dinner, and several patrons timidly approached us asking if we were real cops. One (drunk) guy even came to me confessing how he was trying to straighten out his life. I told him something encouraging like, "That's great, man. Keep up the good work!" He beamed. I figured in that particular instance, it didn't hurt to let the guy believe I was the genuine article.
