: Watched the WWII move "Fury" the other night. Really taken with the "Tanker Boots." : Does anyone know the origin of this design. Lace up bottoms with a leather flap with two bucklets. In the movie Matt Damon wears a knee high pair. The rest of the crew have the ankle high.
The shorter boots were standard American combat boots in WW2. The French still have boots like that. You can find used ones all the time on ebay and some companies like Corcoran made modern copies. Motorcycle couriers in England wore tall versions of that style boot.
More recently, Stompers Boots (under previous ownership) worked with Wesco to create new versions of that combination they called the "dogmaster" with various heights.
